Why Talk Therapy?
There is lots of clinical evidence that talk therapy works well for many people. That's why it is available on the NHS and why doctors recommend it.
Talk therapy, also known as counselling or psychotherapy, is entering into a therapeutic relationship with a trained professional who can safely hold your story, and meet you where you at, exactly as you are, without judgement, moving forward at your pace. It aims to bring about healing and the development of self-awareness, inner power and overall personal growth, to increase in well being. What can be missed is that the relationship with the therapist, the connection and how that feels, is central to how therapy works. This is why I offer a free introductory call to see if we are suited to working together.

It is a wonderful, potent, healing medium that can go so well alongside other healing modalities such as body work, and other helpful wellness practices.

Misconceptions?

One of the biggest misconceptions is that talk therapy is just about talking and mining over the same story!

Rather, talk therapy includes:

* space to explore deep seated emotions and feelings safely
* finding underlying reasons for feelings, emotions and behaviours
* making connections between events in your life and why you feel the way you do
* illuminating meaning and understanding about life events
* learning ways to soothe and 'regulate' our bodies so we can be with big feelings without being overwhelmed
* neuroplasticity - changing neural pathways so that we actually feel better long term
* learning, gaining skills and resources to help us build resilience
* gaining self-compassion

I will use my experience to offer my skills, resources and techniques where collaboratively and professionally I judge them to be appropriate.

And if we have a session outdoors the added benefits of walking for health and fitness, as well as fresh air, and other benefits of nature will be added.

So overall, this means that talk therapy is actually a dynamic process that is responsive to your needs in the moment.
